Dear Chelsea,

Re: No response to our letter of 14th nov 2008

I refer to our letter of 14/11/2008 for which there has been no response even though you indicated one would be forthcoming. As well as the issues raised in that letter we would also wish to comment on other issues that are relevant since our last letter.

Beach Access

It was good to see the work completed prior to christmas to improve beach access for boats and trailers at Walkerville North. This is a very effective treatment at a seemingly modest cost and is appreciated by most of the boaties.

Having arrived successfully on the beach, the difficulty with boat launching at high tide in front of GAIRS and at low tide at the bluff still exists. Rock removal in the low tide channel at the Bluff to provide a sandy bottom at low tide for boats with a 600mm draft is the only practical interim solution preceding a formal boat ramp.

We also believe VRFISH have been meeting with WFCM and the Coastal Board about boating facilities at Walkerville, the possibility of rock removal as specified the “Erosion Study” was apparently discussed as well as the possibility of a concrete ramp over the
rocky areas.

WFCM Newsletter

We congratulate the WFCM on issue no 1 of Walkerville News. which contained a lot of worthwhile information for campers, visitors and residents. We note with interest your commitment to review the 2001 management plan during 2009 and look to being kept in the loop particularly with regard to recreational issues. We also note your comment about the provision of offshore reefs at the caravan park to improve beach facilities as recommended in your “erosion study.” [this was also supposed to happen at Waratah Street].

SIGNAGE ETC.

We cant understand why the issue of toilet/change room sign at Walkerville South seems contentious. In January the swimmers put up their own hand written signs to help people know where these facilities where.

SUMMARY

We are disappointed at the tardy response to our November letter,we would have been happy to include your newsletter on our website and post it out to our members. We would also appreciate your meeting dates for 2009 at which there will be the usual 30 minute open forum open forum at the commencement of the meeting
